Casa das Virtudes is a cultural project that recently opened its doors in Faro. Its purpose is to welcome and promote Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking arts and artists based on a multifaceted program, such as circus, dance, music, plastic arts, among others.
They are specialist in Contemporary Circus (Novo Circo) and come from the best school in the country – Lisbon’s Chapitô (Portugals own Cirque du Soleil!). The space is amazing and the artists very talented.
As cultural agents, their main mission is to communicate with the community through the arts, spreading their liveliness, their interventionist, cultural and social aspects. A differentiated artistic product is defined as a programmatic and creative objective, which follows the premise of uniting various arts, with the added value of circus arts.
Based on the genesis of culture, it is essential to add several partners to the project, in order to develop a work in "network" with various cultural structures that already exist. We believe in working in partnership, strengthening the know-how of each partner in a joint objective.
Their new show, Memórías, opens on Friday April 23rd 2021 at 9pm, with sessions on Saturday and Sunday 24th and 25th at 11:30am, then the following weekend Friday April 30th at 9pm, and on Saturday and Sunday May 1st and 2nd at 11:30am.
Memórías Synopsis
We are the memory we have and the responsibility we assume. Without memory we do not exist, without responsibility we may not deserve to exist - José Saramago
In this utopian creation, two scribes that roam the mundane world collect the memories and experiences of the beings that inhabit it, invisible to the naked eye but where their presence is always remarkable. Being totally oblivious to human behavior, like children playing, in the course of writing their diaries, their curiosity to experience the entities they observed takes them on a journey of experimentation for the collected sensations, the good, the bad and, sometimes, the worse!
Will their discernment for human beings reside in love and compassion, or will they give up because of the actions that were able to collect through the memories of the various personas? They said that Man is the size of his dream ...
Maybe we all live in a nightmare.
