The March ride postponed for a week due to the recent bad weather finally got underway from Silves on the 22nd of March. It was led and organised by Alain Balouzet and John Redding.
Unfortunately the ride had to be shortened due to a delay caused when regular rider John Heffernan decided to take a closer look at at some loose gravel.
He slid off at slow speed and received a couple of broken ribs for his trouble. His passenger Linda escaped with just a few bumps and bruises.
John asks that I pass on his thanks to all those that gave assistance and his apologies for disrupting the ride.
This was the first time since the group started seven years ago that there has been a incident of this nature.
All his ASB friends wish John a speedy recovery and we hope to see him next time.
After the delay the riders continued via São Marcos and Monchique for lunch at restaurant O Maximino on the road down to Portimão.
As John normally provides many of pictures from our rides there are none available so the one here shows John in happier times leading one of his rides, and one of the group on the same road to Monchique on a previous occasion.
