After postponing for a week due the recent wet and windy weather the ride eventually took place on the Tuesday 18th February. The bad weather apparently sent by some jealous ASB members out of spite because they were in the UK and therefore unable to take part in the ride.
Riders met in Silves before heading into the hills past the Odalouca Barragem and through Fornalha to Caldas de Monchique for coffee. Stopping on the way to take in the great views towards Portimao and the coast.
After the coffee break Steve took over as Lead Rider from David who had headed the group from the start. Travelling up towards Alferce before turning north down the winding roads into the valley and then the steep climb with tight hairpin bends up the other side and along the main road from Nave Redonda to the lunch venue.
After lunch riders returned home by various directions. Most having to do battle with the wind that had strenghtened during lunch although sunny most of the day was quite chilly in the mountains.
This picture shows some of the members admiring Joaquin's VW trike and Winston' Triumph which has a massive 2300cc engine.
The day was organised by Steve Wills and David Shirley, with the assistance of Peter Moseley on traffic control duty.
Next Meeting - Tuesday March 11th
The ride will start at Sao Bras de Alportel for a ride to Dogueno, and finish with lunch at The Moto Clube de Faro, and will be organised by Mike Sanders assisted by Roger Ingle.
