The Algarve Senior Bikers had what could only be described as a somewhat cool ride on the way to the meeting point for the February ride, due to the gusty cold northerly wind.
The meeting point was in São Marcos do Serra, and several new members were taking part.
The ASB had the pleasure of the company of Colin Lawrence who was in the Algarve having just returned from his solo tour of Morocco on his 300cc Honda CRF.
The day was organised by Philippe Payen with the assistance of Andrew Chilton, Dave Lowey and David Shirley.
After a few kilometres of the ride the clouds started to clear and there was bright sunshine for the rest of the day, but the riders still had to battle with the cold gusty winds as they climbed the twisty roads through the hills.
Travelling from São Marcos the group went north up the IC1, before turning towards Sao Barnabé and the hills.
Climbing north before turning East again, the group visited the Miradouro de Mu viewpoint shortly before arriving for a coffee break at Malhão.
After coffee the group continued on the route down via Salir and Parragil to Olhos de Agua, where lunch was at Restaurant A Lagosteira. It was noticeably warmer on the ride down the south side of hills.
A very enjoyable day out with splendid clear blue skies allowing great views on the way in the hills north of Salir.
Having enjoyed a very nice leisurely lunch and chat, riders then dispersed to return home to various parts of the Algarve.
