In April, Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) President-elect, Vitor Rosão and Honorary Member Zélia Rosão organized and hosted a truly memorable event at Escola Básica Poeta Emiliano da Costa in Estoi to celebrate “Dia da Liberdade” Portugal’s 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.
The evening began with complimentary drinks followed by an excellent meal prepared and served by students and teachers of the school. 71 people attended the event, coming together to commemorate this significant milestone in Portugal’s history.
A highlight of the evening was the musical performances - Songs of April - led by Vitor and his supporting musicians. And singer Cristina Paulo also gave a wonderful impromptu performance to finish the evening.
Crocheted carnations made by member Cristina Lamy were sold during the evening. In total the evening raised almost €1900. These funds will be divided between the school, to enable repairs to a floor in the students’; common room, and RCEPI to support their efforts to send students to summer camp this year as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme.
RCEPI thanks everyone who contributed to the success of this event, whether through their time, talent, or generosity and looks forward to future opportunities for celebration and collaboration.
