Alentejo blue skies and warm sunshine was the order of the day for the 29 riders of the ASB when they visited the beautiful town of Mertola on the Guadiana River for lunch.
The ride was organised by Stan Green with the assistance of Martin Taylor. Stan leading the first half of the ride from the start in Paderne to Cachopo where a stop was made for refreshments in the shade of the vines on the terrace at the cafe in the square.
Martin then took over as lead rider on the second half of the ride to to Mertola.
Lunch was at the Restaurant Terra Utopica overlooking the river. The historic restaurant building dates back to Roman times. The lunch was excellent and this lunch venue was widely acclaimed by many membersas one of the best we have visited over the past few years.

An extra event has been added to the September program. This will be a ride in the Monchique mountains starting from Silves at 10am on Monday September 1st.
