Working for several months in close cooperation with the engineers from UC’s IteCons– the Institute for Research and Technological Development in Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability – the window was tested under the hardest settings, as they wanted to make sure it was designed to endure the most difficult weather conditions, ranging from heavy rain and wind to sun and sea water exposure.
Following the tests, a special certification was obtained for the MR-IV 78 window:
Air Permeability – 4;
Windload resistance – C3;
Watertightness – 5A;
Thermal insulation – 1,35.
According to the lead engineer Jorge Silva that conducted the tests, “these were the best results this institute ever had for a wood window in Portugal”:
