To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the passing of Sir Winston Churchill, private Fund Management in association with Rathbones of Mayfair London held an audience with Randolph Churchill (Sir Winston’s great-grandson).
Great fun was had by all at the Vilalara resort in Porches on the 28th September, and the following day at the Conrad hotel QDL.
A short introduction by Rathbones was followed by Randolph, talking openly about the enduring significance of the war time leader and his efforts to safeguard the legacy of one of the most towering figures in British history.
From the early days as an army officer and his capture in the Boer war, to his disappointment at loosing the general election after the Second World War. From the disastrous Gallipoli campaign to Winston’s love of painting. Randolph was entertaining, personal and humorous.
Many facts and interesting details emerged as the audience enjoyed a heartfelt insight into the family and his Grandfather.
After each speech Randolph shared a glass of wine with all, and everyone had the opportunity to meet him in person and take photographs.
One guest commentated “A red letter day for me with wonderful hospitality”.
