Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) welcomed Teresa Santos from the APAV (Victim Support Association) Centre in Albufeira to their meeting at Estoi Palace Pousada on 19th April.
Teresa gave a presentation explaining their work. Primarily they assist victims of domestic violence and help them to get their lives back on track with assistance for up to 6 months for them to find accommodation, a job and so on. They also support victims of other crimes. The Association was founded in 1990 and has gone from strength to strength with offices and refuges nationwide.
RC Estoi Palace and the Rotary Club of Faro held a Gala Dinner to raise funds for the Association in March. Past President Christine Fay presented Teresa with a cheque for 6216 euros. Anabela Schwarz the Vice President to the Alliançe Française, an Association promoting French culture abroad, also presented Teresa with a cheque for 500 euros as a donation to support APAV.
