It will be smiles all round when a brand new pushchair, carry chair and baby clothes are delivered to young mothers in the Almancil area.
The items were purchased with money raised at a recent private lunch given by members of the Almancil International Rotary Club.
The gifts were presented to Dra Conceição Vicente, from the Social Services Department at the Associação Social e Cultural de Almancil (ASCA) who will be handing them over to the recipients.
“In these difficult times there are many parents with babies and young children who cannot afford to buy even the most basic necessities let alone a pushchair and baby clothes,” said Dra Conceição. “The Almancil International Rotary Club has helped us out many times in the past and when I told the Chairman of Community Services Peter Hinze what we needed, he immediately offered to help and we are very grateful. We constantly need items such as these and will even take good quality second-hand clothing and any other items which will be of use to babies and youngsters, especially pushchairs, cots and bedding”.
“We are always pleased to help ASCA,” said Peter Hinze. “They do a fantastic job in the community and over the years our Club and ASCA have done many projects together. As a club we are committed to do whatever we can to help people less fortunate than ourselves. We welcome like-minded people to our club and if anyone is interested in becoming a member we would like to hear from them. For details they can contact our President José Galamba at president@rotaryalmancil.org. If anyone has any items to offer ASCA Dra Conceição can be contacted at asca@asca.pt.”
