The Rotarian’s Wine Appreciation Fellowship is pleased announce the results from the recent wine tasting and dinner held at Restaurante/Garrafeira Veneza near Paderne. Seventy-three happy wine lovers packed the Garrafeira to enjoy the wines of Herdade do Mouchão near Évora in the Alentejo. Each wine was presented by Mouchão Director David Ferreira Marques and then paired with appropriate food. David had so much fun talking to those in attendance that he even forgot to eat the duck course!
A grand total of € 1675 was raised to benefit the Banco Alimentar (Food Bank) and will be used to purchase equipment needed in the Portimão satellite warehouse. With the May food collection drive fast approaching, the Food Bank needs additional equipment to handle the increase in stock.
Organiser Claire Larson wants to thank all those who attended, those who couldn’t attend but made contributions and with a special thanks to the staff (particularly the chef!) at Veneza who efficiently served the large crowd. Many attendees left with boxes of Mouchão wine, and everyone left with happy faces and a sense of accomplishment for the terrific result.
These events are held twice each year, with the next scheduled for the autumn. Be sure to watch for the announcement!
