Starting on Super Tuesday, March 3 running until March 10, there will be 12 public voting events in Portugal to help the estimated 5,000 Americans residing in Portugal to choose the Democratic candidate to run against President Donald J. Trump in the United States 2020 Presidential election.
Voting events are held at public locations in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Cascais, Sintra, Obidos/Silver Coast, Setúbal, and Portimão. US citizens who are registered to vote and are Democrats Abroad members can vote in this special impactful election. Because Democrats Abroad is a legal entity of the Democratic Party, the results of the Global Presidential Primary will determine the number of delegates that each presidential candidate will receive from Democrats Abroad at the Democratic National Convention this July - thus helping determine the Democratic presidential nominee for the 2020 elections.
Due to the DA delegate-voter ratio, member votes count two- to four-times more than a vote cast in US home states. Democrats Abroad members will also help any US citizen 18 years or older by/on November 3, 2020, register to vote as an overseas citizen. All US citizens, no matter where they live in the world, can vote in any United States Federal election.
Those unable to attend the events can vote by email from home at democratsabroad.org
General American overseas voter registration is available at VoteFromAbroad.org
All events are run by Democrats Abroad member-volunteers. For more information, contact info-portugal@democratsabroad.org or see Event details on the Democrats Abroad Portugal Facebook Page.
