The Algarve's gardeners are being well served with information and advice with the Mediterranean Gardening Association’s 'Spring Garden Fair' at Quinta da Figueirinha to the east of Silves on March 5th,* followed on Wednesday, March 9th by an afpop - Waterwise Gardens 'Gardening Forum' at the Quinta dos Vales Winery, Estômbar, near Lagoa.

afpop Gardening Forum - afpop together with Waterwise Gardens are collaborating on a Gardening Forum, designed to provide information and advice to those who are looking for ideas or inspiration for their gardens in the Algarve. As many people will have already discovered, there is a big difference to gardening in the Algarve compared with more northerly climates.
As the Springtime planting period approaches, people will be looking at their gardens and deciding what to do, what to plant and what to change this year. Marilyn Medina Ribeiro, the director of landscape design company Waterwise Gardens, will be presenting tips and solutions to those perennial questions and offering a ‘plant surgery’ for those with planting nightmares.
This event, entitled ‘Making the most of your garden in the Algarve’, will give simple tips for improvements to your garden which will save you time and money. The event will be held at the Quinta dos Vales Winery, Estômbar near Lagoa on Wednesday 9th March starting at 10.30 (registration 10am).
Marilyn will introduce some of the joys and challenges of gardening in the Algarve, while outlining simple tips for making the most of your garden in this climate. Touching briefly on design and renovation, the main emphasis will be on easy-to-implement methods which will give your garden an instant boost, including composting, mulch, propagation, pruning and watering.
