Dom Pattinson, one of the world’s foremost urban artists, whose works are collected by a host of celebrities including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and the Beckhams, will be in Loule this week for the opening of ArtCatto's summer exhibition. His latest pieces will be shown alongside those of Will Rochfort, Andre Lundquist and Mark Dempsteder.
The value of Pattinson’s works has recently soared by close to 50%. Known for his quirky approach and bold messaging, he has just signed a contract to create a series of images for the new flagship Ted Baker store in New York, a move which is expected to see global demand for the English artist’s signature canvases soar further.
Through Gillian Catto of ArtCatto, Pattinson has been asked by the Loulé Camera to paint something for the city while he is here. On Wednesday 27 July he will be working on a huge 36sqm hoarding at the fountain roundabout at the start of the Avenida. He will then go on to paint the wall of a building in an impoverished part of Loulé, to draw attention to the re-urbanisation project now underway; the artist hopes his work – and his involvement – will inspire young people … a cause very close to his heart.
So committed is Dom Pattinson to nurturing young talents while supporting those in need, he is bringing four works with him that the Camera and ArtCatto will donate, on his behalf, to hand-picked social institutions who will be able to raise much-needed funds through their sales.
ArtCatto’s Summer Exhibition starts 28 July 2016.
