The Vilamoura International School (CIV), a private educational institution with almost 36 years, continues to assert itself as a reference school. Every year, students leave the CIV, the national and Cambridge curricula, for universities around the world.
This year, more than 30 finalists from Year 13, of Cambridge Assessment International Education and the 12th year of the National Curriculum, went to universities of great prestige, Portuguese (Universidade do Algarve, Universidade de Lisboa, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade do Porto, Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra), and international (Georgia Tech Institute, University of Manchester, Queen Mary University of Manchester, City University of London, University of Edinburgh, Leiden University and King´s College London).
"The solid formation of students has been over the years a constant and distinctive mark of the CIV students, the result of the hard work of students and pedagogical teams that accompany them", says the pedagogical direction of the Vilamoura International School.
After all, what do the results say about preparing students in the CIV?
This school of international education is at the top of the schools with the smallest discrepancy between internal and external evaluations. To understand the issue, the Jornal de Notícias (06/27/20) presents two tables of discrepancies observed in public and private schools and consider that "schools where the internal and external grades are closer are in the top places". Placing the Vilamoura International School in the 4th place in the ranking of schools with the least discrepancy (a difference of 71 tenths in 36 examinations considered). These are data of great importance and translate the rigor of schools in the monitoring of their students.
As far as international exams are concerned, the CIV has achieved better than the world average for a number of years, enabling its students to reach positions at the best universities in Europe, putting Vilamoura on the map of the most prestigious international schools in Portugal. To be noted that the Cambridge Curriculum is globally recognized by higher education institutions and is valued in the labor market.
With regard to national rankings, in the 2019 results analysis, the CIV ranks 4th in the 2019 School Ranking according to Jornal de Notícias, climbing 33 positions in relation to the previous year. Among 629 schools with secondary school exams, that Portuguese daily highlights this school of international education by the average score achieved in the exams of the eight main disciplines (CE): 14.79 values. In the results achieved in 2020, the CIV reached an average of 16 values in the 11th and 12th grade examinations. Of these, we highlight the averages of Mathematics A (17,7), Economics A (17,8), Philosophy (18,1) and History B (18).
The same applies to primary education. The news agency LUSA and the newspaper Público (06/27/20) attribute to the Vilamoura International School the place of best basic school of 2nd and 3rd Cycles of the Algarve, placing it in the 39th position of the National Ranking, among more than 1100 schools in the rankings of 2019. In the final exams of cycle, Portuguese and Mathematics of 9th year, the CIV reached an average of four values.
