Are you looking for something a little bit different to do in the Algarve? Why not give The Orphanage Escape Room in Lagos a try?
If you're not familiar with the term 'escape room', it's basically the term for a live-action game where you and your team are the players. You are locked in a room with the challenge to complete a mission using a serires of clues, solving puzzles and completing challenges to escape the room. They will of course just let you out if you ask, but where's the fun in that?
At Xscape-It Lagos a team of between 2 and 5 are allowed 1 hour to complete the mission. The games are brilliantly challenging, so you won't get out too quickly. You have to rely on your skills, and the skills of others and work as a team to successfully unlock the door to get out.
The theme of the Lagos escape room is The Orphanage. The story goes that in 1985, the Barlow’s Home for Children was closed down. Since then, people have been terrified by the strange atmosphere surrounding the old orphanage. According to the legend, weird noises and whispers can be heard late at night. Something strange happened in there. It's your mission to work out what happened and let peace reign!
If you're thinking your nerves nay not be up to this, they offer two game modes;
Classic: No jump scares, for those who prefer mystery and suspense
Horror: If you love a challenge and horror movies, this is for you. Darker atmosphere and the presence of a live actor at some moments during the game. (shown in video below)
I can't recommend this enough for a fun hour with friends and family, working together as a team, relying on each others strengths and most of all giggling at each other for being 'scared' of the dark!
Go on, give it a go! Tell them the Algarve Daily News sent you, and try and beat our escape time of 50 mins 52 seconds!
