Focusing on Things That Matter. The dysfunctions of our system, the way we see things, and how fast we can switch our focus became clear when COVID started. Suddenly every one of us changed our perspective.
We have been slightly blinded by what we have become as humans, and the start of the pandemic was a good wake-up call for all of us! If you want to change perspective, try volunteering in an elderly home, or hospice house…
By the time we reach young adulthood, we are programmed to let go of our genuine curiosity, and creativity as the byproduct of our current schooling system. This leads to short-term thinking and losing patience. We live in a constant bubble of worrying about the wrong things, like managing our time and wealth. Instead of filling our time with serving productively, and then realizing the rest will fall into place without having to worry.
Two billion people don’t have access to safe drinking water, and you are worried about your Instagram following. Changing beliefs and perspectives is inevitable to build a more authentic society. A huge problem is that our thinking is quite outdated. You may haven’t figured out your life in your thirties which was a big issue in our grandparents’ time, but today we are going to live a lot longer, with multiple resources of information.
Toxicity Should Be Eliminated
Toxicity is so outdated and unacceptable! Yet as a people we greatly suffer from this… Since we cannot control domestic life yet, we should start to control it outside, in business life. If you are a leader, you should deal with your stress on the higher level that made you a leader instead of releasing your pain to your subordinates. We should start upgrading our modern mindset with this notion, to reduce harmful behavior in business!
You could also minimize toxic people in your life by realizing their complaints, or both of yours do not contribute to your growth! By minimizing or cutting the contact with such people, you could immediately feel better! Stop seeing your life so negatively, and realize the minimal abundance you have! That’s a great starting point to build upon a successful future. Think of what you could multiply by being grateful and patient!!
Simplicity, Self-Acceptance, and the Big Picture
When we accept our flows, not only do we become better individuals and more authentic, but we can better understand others. I believe we can only realize true success from a relaxed, self-accepted space. Then, we can also realize there is a big order in the simplicity of thought and circumstances. We can build great things with a simple mindset, and even if we make mistakes, they won’t throw us back so much.
If you do multiple businesses or worry about making your small business into a mid-sized one, and you also have a family to look after, the best thing to do is keep trying! There’s no shortcut to life, you can only do your best in each department, and shouldn’t overthink or overanalyze! With ongoing, tenacious effort, and a positive mind, sooner or later you will realize the goals you meant to achieve! Know thyself.
Switching Your Focus from Money to Service
If your social media platform doesn’t have the kind of following you would like, chances are you aren’t doing something well. It could be that service isn’t in the first place of your mind, you are doing it more for the money, besides your marketing strategy, or how good you are at each part of your business. All of us can see how being served from an authentic space is increasingly important. First, believe in yourself and the greatness of your service!
Remember that you opted for being a business individual because you knew you had more in you than just doing a boring nine to five job, and perhaps you were thinking long-term! You should be proud of yourself for not needing a company to pay your salary, but having faith you can earn a living, and not thinking short-term, which is one of the greatest issues of our society! If you only think of the great things you can create in short, versus longer periods…
Sustainability, Soft Skills versus Hard Skills
We have to realize that sustainability can only be built on strong virtues. Soft skills (communication, adaptability, time management, problem-solving, teamwork…) will continue to dominate over hard skills which are getting commoditized (a degree, certificates, language skills, computer skills, bookkeeping…). And the advancement of technology has started replacing the human workforce thanks to artificial intelligence, robots, and other technologies.
Looking at the next couple of decades, we need to slow down to grasp the fast changes in the world, including social media, blockchain, and our current technology radically changing our world. (Remember how trains, planes, and even the TV changed our life earlier!) We perhaps cannot even imagine what our future holds with the rise of the Internet together with Blockchain…
Key Takeaways
Right Perspectives.
If you have an SME (small to medium enterprise) and worry about your future in the current market, your biggest vulnerability could be your worries about the size of your business. Changing your perspective is pivotal. Many people question why their business isn’t growing, comparing their ventures with how their competitors advance. If you have a small business and cannot grow so fast, usually happens because you don’t have the necessary resources.
Acceptance.
If we were thinking like this, IBM would be still the largest company, Microsoft wouldn’t have let Google happen, and Google would have never let Facebook happen. The best advice when you are a small business, you need to lean into scaling unscalable behaviors. Stick to your vision of creating a successful business, have faith in it, and work hard so that society can benefit from it as much as you. Self-acceptance can help you regain accountability!
