Comment

This is the second collaboration between AFPOP and the University, which began in late 2015.

The University Rector and his staff are keen to raise awareness of the facilities and the work of the University and to build closer links with the expatriate community.

In a letter to AFPOP Members, the Rector, Professor Branco, explained that the University sees great value in working with the foreign residents in the Algarve and believes that "closer links bring greater understanding."

AFPOP CEO Michael Reeve commented,

"We are delighted that Professor Branco and his colleagues see AFPOP as a route to the expatriate community. Of course there are others, but so far the link that we are developing has created interest within the AFPOP Membership, which we believe is a good indication of the wider potential for the University.

"We began with a pilot scheme entitled 'Sharing Experiences', which now we have introduced via the media to all expatriates.

“The ‘Discover Portugal’ course is the next step in our collaboration with the University, a collaboration which both organisations are keen to develop for the future."

Part of AFPOP’s remit is to develop links between the foreign and the resident community’s organisations.

The 'Discover Portugal' course is a good example of the work in progress towards this aim and it is especially pleasing to see the University of the Algarve also wanting to develop closer links with expats by running tailor-made, high quality courses.
