Portugal’s unemployment rate was down to 10.5% at the end of November 2016, according to a provisional figure from the national Statistics Institute (INE).
The November figure for 2015 was 12.3% when the socialist government took over from the right-of-centre Passos Coelho coalition.
The unemployment rate for October 2016, now has been confirmed at 10.6%, down from the estimate of 10.8%.
The number of people registered as out of work last November was 535,300.
Unemployment among young people was 28.4%, slightly higher than in October last year, up 0.6%.
For the adult population, the rate was 9.1%, down 0.2%.
