After the cold, we now have rain and high winds to look forward to across the Algarve.
The Faro district, and 11districts across Portugal, have been placed on the weatherman’s 'yellow alert' as strong winds are set to bring torrential rain on Thursday.
Gusts of wind will hit 80 kilometers per hour between dawn and 6pm across the Algarve and in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, Braga, Aveiro, Leiria, Coimbra, Lisbon, Setúbal and Beja.
The weather service also placed the districts Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon, Évora, Setúbal, Beja and Faro under a 'yellow warning' due the forecast of heavy rain between dawn and 3pm on Thursday.
As for the continuing cold spell, the temperature will be creeping back up along coastal areas but dropping in the interior of the country.
To summarise Thursday's cheery IPMA forecast: the southern Alentejo and Algarve can expect cloud, rain - often heavy - hail and thunder with a showery afternoon.
