A crash on the Via de Infante motorway has left seven people injured, one of them seriously.
The incident involved a collision between two cars on a section of the A22 in the Silves municipality on Monday afternoon, July 3rd. The wounded were transported to Faro Hospital.
According to the Faro's District Relief Operations Centre, the accident occurred near the Algoz turn-off at about 2.00 p.m. Three women and two men suffered minor injuries but a 17-year-old Portuguese male, was severely wounded.
A GNR source said that the two vehicle crash occurred on the westbound carriageway and two lanes had to be closed off while emergency services dealt with the aftermath.
Bombeiros, the GNR, an emergency ambulance team and personnel from the Portuguese Red Cross arrived to help.
