FNAC in Lagos - the French company's first franchise in Portugal

fnacstoreFrench-owned electrical and book retailer, FNAC Portugal, is opening its 25th store in the country and the third for the Algarve.

The new Lagos store is a franchising deal with the Intermarché-Mosqueteiros supermarket group.

This is a new business model for the ‘Fédération Nationale d’Achats pour Cadres’ when the franchise opens on Saturday, July 15th.

In a statement, FNAC Portugal says that the new store will have a total area of ​​675 m2 and will have room for 14,000 items.

This store is located in the Intermarché hypermarket in Lagos and is the first partnership between the two French companies. This sort of franchise partnership exists in France but this is the first time it has been tried in Portugal.

FNAC are positive and sure the deal will succeed, “the possibility of activating this innovative partnership in Portugal offers excellent guarantees of success for all parties involved."

FNAC in Lagos will "offer its customers a 15% discount on the store's entire stock on July 15th and 16th, and it will be possible to join the FNAC store card scheme free of charge until August 13th” this saving €15.

FNAC stores stock a range of products from audio, books, CDs, computer software and hardware, DCDs, televisions and video games. Some stores operate photography services and ticket sales. The company offers a selection of more expensive consumer products positioning itself above discount retailers.
