Four-year-old dies in Tavira rooftop fall

INEM125A four-year-old being looked after by his grandmother, fell from a terrace in Tavira and later died in hospital.

Tomás Revez was showing signs of life when he was rushed to Faro hospital late on Tuesday morning, August 1st, but had suffered serious injuries and died early the next day.

The boy was at home with his grandmother. While she prepared some food, Tomás Revez went up to the roof terrace to play with the dog but lost his balance and fell from a height of about six meters, bouncing off a sunshade and landing on the pavement below.

The emergency ambulance service arrived at 11:45 and its doctor found the boy unconscious, lying on the pavemnent beside Rua José Joaquim Jara in the historic area of ​​Tavira.

Despite the severity of his injuries, the boy still had vital signs and was rushed to Faro hospital.
 
The boy was being looked after at home by his 51-year-old grandmother, while his 30-year-old father was out at work. His parents are separated and his mother lives in Olhão.
