The 19-year-old, named as Diogo Miguel Sousa Costa, was living in student accommodation and the GNR already has commented that there appears to have been no crime committed.

The alert was given late on Monday night, 25 September, after the Diogo was found unconscious by friends. The second-year student was studying computer engineering at the University’s Faculty for Technology and Sciences and earlier had complained to friends of feeling unwell and suffering from chest pains.

An ambulance with emergency INEM team was called to the scene but the youngster was found to be dead.

According to the Faro GNR, which also was called to the scene, the hypothesis of a crime is not being explored as it seemed clear that the student had died of natural causes.

There will be an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
