The body of the second of the two fishermen who disappeared a week ago in the Alentejo’s Alqueva reservoir, surfaced this morning and has been recovered.
The corpse was spotted on the surface of the water at 09:37 near the place where the two men had disappeared.
The GNR said that the body of a 50-year-old man was transported to Évora and will be subject to an autopsy.
Searches had been going on since September 24th when the two men disappeared from the middle of the reservoir. They were from Azaruja, Évora, and were fishing near São Marcos do Campo, when a nearby fisherman said they were 'there one minute - and gone the next.'
By midmorning the next day, the authorities had recovered the corpse of the first of the two men in an area near Monte do Espinhaço.
The boat was found on the bank of the reservoir but it has taken a week for the lake to give up the body of the second man.
