A pensioner has been found dead by Tavira Bombeiros who had to break into his house after neighbours became concerned and called emergency services
The man, aged "between 65 and 70," has died "several days ago" and was in "an advanced state of decomposition," according to Miguel Silva, the local Bombeiros chief.
The Firefighters were alerted on the afternoon of January 3rd, as neighbors in Conceição de Tavira, "had not seen the victim for a few days" and "had knocked on his door without answer."
The Bombeiros went to the house and had to force entry.
The man appeared not to have been harmed in any way but the GNR was on hand anyway to ascertain the circumstances of his death.
A local Red Cross ambulance transported the body to the morgue after the Bombeiros team used special equipment while moving the corpse due to its advanced state of decomposition.
