LIDL Portugal has warned that special offers on social media, including one for a special €250 card, are fraudulent and nothing to do with its own marketing.
A message that has been circulating on WhatsApp, promises users a €250 LIDL card but the company confirmed this is a phishing scam.
By following a suggested link, users are invited to answer some questions about their household and to forward the message to 15 of their contacts. In this way, they would be entitled to a €250 card.
Company management explained that, "all our campaigns and promotions are disseminated through the official channels of the brand, namely the website and the official LIDL pages on Facebook and Instagram."
The company warned the public to take special care not to disclosure personal data on non-official LIDL social media pages.
