The official start time was 16h15 on Tuesday afternoon. Spring has sprung in Portugal with lower than normal temperatures dropping further over the next two days.
Spring arrives will start with a few days of sunshine, occasionally strong but always cold winds, with low temperatures throughout the country.
Some areas will hit zero degrees with Bragança, Guarda and Braga set for a decidedly chilly start to the season, as are Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu, but no rain is forecast.
Wednesday is expected to be slightly cloudy or clear, with the wind gradually weakening.
The Spring equinox in the northern hemisphere started at 16:15 on March 20th and will continue until 92.79 days until the next solstice, on June 21 at 11:07 am.
Don’t forget that this Saturday night/Sunday morning, the clocks go forward one hour from 1am to 2am in mainland Portugal and in Madeira, and from midnight to 1am in the Azores.
The Algarve will have a cold north wind on Wednesday but the high will still be 17C. On Thursday the wind will have changed to north westerly bringing cloud, leading to rain on Friday.
