The Fiscal Unit of the GNR has seized 7,458 liquid nicotine refills for e-cigarettes.The operation was carried out on Wednesday, March 21, following an investigation that took place about a year ago into a company that was selling the refills without paying tax.
The raids centred on establishements in Faro and Loulé that were involved in the illegal, untaxed, sale of the refills.
Three searches were carried out in commercial establishments involved in retailing the electronic cigarettes, liquid refills and accessories.
The GNR seized an estimated 78 litres of liquid nicotine, worth around €39,000.
The unpaid Imposto Especial de Consumo due on the product is over €23,000.
