Portugal is the first in a list of 65 countries that are friendly to immigrants, beating Taiwan and Mexico to the number one spot.
An Inter Nations study, released by Forbes, shows that Portugal has shot up nine places in a year.
The study questioned more than 13,000 people in 188 countries. The parameters used included the local attitude towards immigrants, the ease of making friends and the likelihood of immigrants remaining in the country.
Portugal is up nine places thanks to the excellent reviews from expatriates and views from travellers through Portugal, of whom 47% would like to stay.
Kuwait is last, considered the least friendly country towards immigrants where the "anti-expatriates" feeling is increasing among the locals.
Number four is Cambodia followed by Bahrain, Costa Rica, Oman, Columbia, Vietnam and in tenth place, Canada.
