Police in Sweden say have arrested a man his 50s who is suspected of the arson attack on the Portuguese Embassy in Stockholm.
A large fire broke out shortly before noon on Wednesday a building that houses the Portuguese, Argentine, Belgian and Tunisian embassies.
Police report that 14 people have received medical attention, with some being taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
Portugal’s Foreign Minister, Augusto Santos Silva, said that the fire at the embassy in Stockholm was a "criminal act by an unknown man,” adding that this was not a terrorist attack but the actions of an independent and clearly disturbed individual.
Silva explained, "He demanded to speak to the person in charge of the consular section, a request that was satisfied, but even before the conversation started he committed a criminal act in starting a fire, and then fled."
Some 60-70 firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze.
