A holidaymaker from Ireland was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries caused by his plunge from a balcony at an Albufeira hotel.
Emergency services were called at 05:00 on Monday morning after Leonard Gargan had fallen from the third floor of the Hotel Brisa Sol and became sandwiched between a wall and an air conditioning unit.
The 33-year-old, on holiday with his parents and his wife, was rushed to Accident and Emergency admissions at Faro Hospital.
Hotel Brisa Sol describes itself as a luxury four-star establishment with a wide selection of apartments and studios with three swimming pools, a restaurant, snack bar and bar area.
At Albufeira’s Alto de Moinhos tourist complex last May, 30-year-old Irish stag party reveller, Daryl Dargan, died in his room after a night out with friends.
Management at Brisa Sol was not available for comment but police will be checking Gargan’s blood alcohol level to ascertain if drink had played a part in his early morning fall.
