A 16-year-old teenager, thought to be Portuguese, plunged to his death from the Rocha Negra cliff to the east of Praia da Luz, in Lagos.
The only witness was a girl who was with him on the clifftop who raised the alarm at around 7.00 pm on Tuesday evening after the 100 metre fall.
Due to the location and conditions, the body was recovered by sea in an operation that involved the Maritime Police, the Lifeboat service, Lagos Bombeiros and an emergency INEM medical team.
The body was recovered at around 10:00pm and taken away by the Ferragudo lifeboat.
The teenager’s friend was questioned by authorities as the only witness to the tragedy.
