An Irish holidaymaker died after suffering a heart attack in a swimming pool at a resort in Alvor, Portimão.
The 57-year-old was pulled from the water by a Portuguese fellow guest at the Vila Marachique complex.
Emergency services were alerted at 4:42 pm and found the man had suffered a heart attack.
The Irishman did not respond to treatment administer on site despite the best ministrations of the emergency medical team from INEM.
Vila Marichique is a quiet complex not far from the centre of Alvor, with 4.8 acres of gardens and swimming pool for adults as well as a separate swimming area for children.
The man was enjoying a quiet break with his wife when tragedy struck last Friday afternoon, July 6th.
