Worten has invested €7 million in a new online marketplace and from Thursday will be offering an expanded product range, including home decoration and furniture.
Worten Marketplace will have a huge product range “and the seal of trust of Worten," said Mário Pereira, Chief Operating Officer of Worten Iberia.
"The investment is €7 million," he said, which includes, "systems and the business management team" as well as a communications campaign.
Between 2016 and 2017, Worten 'online' sales grew 50% in Portugal and 65% in Spain.
"Worten 'online' sells more product than the company’s biggest store and the new Worten Marketplace starts tomorrow with 100,000 products."
The new business area has products from around 100 suppliers, half of which are based in Portugal. The new site will serve Spain from next January.
Worten has a franchise in Angola and sells to 17 other countries outside Iberia. However, "in the short term there is no physical expansion of the business to markets other than in Spain and Portugal,” commented the director of marketing.
