Month of August: White Party, Medieval Fair, and much more...The White Party in Loulé, the Seafood Festival in Olhão, and the Sardine Festival in Portimão, are all some of the many cultural events happening throughout the Algarve in August.

Roasted sardines are a staple in the city of Portimão, explaining why the city hosts an event dedicated to the delicacy, which is traditionally accompanied by bread, potatoes and an Algarve salad. This Sardine Festival takes place from August 7th to August 11th, along the Arade river. Gastronomy and entertainment are at the forefront of this event, with concerts featuring Amor Electro, Barbara Bandeira, Marco Rodrigues, C4 Pedro and Expensive Soul.

In Olhão, the historical Seafood Festival, that takes place annually in the Jardim do Pescador Olhanense, overlooking the Ria Formosa, will be held between the 9th -14th of August. Here you can enjoy prawns, clams, oysters, crabs, lobsters, among many other treasures of the sea. Throughout the six days, there will be various musical performances provided by Matias Damásio, Áurea, HMB, the Queen tribute band “Killer Queen”, Paula Fernandes, Ludmilla and the Resistência.

White Party - LouleOn the last day of the month, the 31st of August, shades of White will invade Loulé for the eighth edition of the “White Party”, which takes place in the city's historic zone and includes its emblematic buildings such as the Castle, the Parish Church, the Municipal Market, the Largo de São Francisco and José da Costa Mealha Avenue.

There are many other events planned for the region throughout the month of August. These include the Fatacil (16th-25th of August in Lagoa), Folkfaro, which brings together folklore groups from around the world in the Algarve capital (17th-25th of August in Faro), and the Silves Medieval Fair (9th-18th of August).

The Algarve sure is THE place to be in August!
