Falesia beach, Albufeira has reached the top 25 European beaches as listed in the 'Traveller's Choice 2014' section of TripAdvisor Europe.
In the national vote, the beach is number one for 'Best Beach Destination - 2014' while in the European ranking the beach is ranked above than many well known Mediterranean beach destinations.
On the TripAdvisor website Falesia Beach was noted for its beauty and diversity, "it is simply stunning. The red rocks contrast with the green pines and dark blue sky" according to the website which helpfully suggests users visit the beach between the April and October.
In the Portuguese Top 10, Albufeira has a 3 beaches listed, Falésia, Olhos de Água and Galé.
Carlos Silva e Sousa, the mayor of Albufeira already has expressed his satisfaction that "once again the beaches of the county are internationally recognised which clearly demonstrates the immense natural heritage that we have and how it works to attract people. Albufeira and the Algarve are compelling tourist destinations and recognised internationally. It is important that we value this potential as developing tourism in the region can also contribute to improving the economic and social conditions of the country."
