EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER SAYS YESEurope will be able to achieve collective immunity against Covid-19 by July, European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said on Sunday, underlining the expected increase in vaccine deliveries.

"Let us set a symbolic date: on the 14th of July we have the possibility of achieving immunity at the level of the continent," he said, speaking to French channel TF1.

“We are in the final stretch, because we know that, to overcome the pandemic, there is only one solution: receiving the vaccine. Vaccines are coming and will arrive here, ” he said, adding that “between March and June, between 300 and 350 million doses of vaccines will be delivered”.

The European commissioner also referred to the expected increase in deliveries planned for Europe, with 60 million doses expected to be delivered in March, 100 million in April and 120 million in May.

According to Thierry Breton, 55 factories already produce vaccines in Europe.

Until the 10th of this month, the European Union had administered 9.64 doses of vaccines for every 100 people, according to the portal ourworldindata.org.
