The construction projectof the new health services building in Loulé has been awarded more than 4.6 million euros, with an execution time of approximately two and a half years.
In a statement, the municipality says that the building "intends to be a response to the needs of care provided in the central area of the region, serving a territory where the population density is high".
The construction works will “start soon” on land provided by the municipality, next to the Health Center of Loulé.
Four areas will be concentrated in the space: the Central Health Centers Group (ACES), the Family Health Unit (USF) Lauroé and the Community Care Unit (UCC) Gentes de Loulé, as well as the University Health Center.
The “large and modern” facilities will not only “substantially improve” the services provided to users, but “guarantee adequate conditions for the pre-graduate education in medicine and nursing at the University of Algarve, research and postgraduate training in health of professionals of ARS Algarve”, said the statement.
The work results from a partnership between the local and central administrations, being financed 65% by the municipality of Loulé and 35% by the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve, in an amount exceeding 4.6 million euros.
The statement by the municipality concludes “in addition to this unit, more projects are underway in the scope of the construction and requalification of health equipment, namely in Quarteira and Almancil”.
