The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) launched an operation on Friday night that covered 149 restaurants and bars in the country, resulting in eight establishments being closed for non-compliance of the rules to contain the covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the ASAE said that the actions, which took place in the cities of Santa Maria da Feira, Póvoa de Varzim, Mirandela, Leiria, Cascais, Nazaré, Moura and Portimão, sent out 54 inspectors, who acted in collaboration with the GNR and PSP.
“The main results of the action are the inspection of 149 establishments, discovering 24 infractions related to non-compliance with the rules in the context of a pandemic discovered”, the note reads.
Of the 24 establishments, 19 were related to non-compliance by the cafe/restaurant to the capacity rules, physical distance and non-verification of a covid-19 digital certificate or negative test, and five to customers for staying inside the restaurant establishment without a digital certificate or test negative.
"It was also determined that the closing of eight establishments was necessary, for non-compliance with the rules established in the decontamination plan of a pandemic", the note continues.
The action was aimed at food and beverage establishments, with the objective of overseeing compliance with the current rules applicable, "intended to be an incentive for businesses, so that the rules established within the decontamination plan are complied with".
