Covid-19: DGS recommends universal vaccination of 12 to 15 year olds

COVID-19: DGS RECOMMENDS UNIVERSAL VACCINATION 12 TO 15 YEAR OLDSAt the Directorate-General for Health press conference this morning, discussing new information regarding the vaccination of young people between 12 and 15 years old, Graças Freita announced that universal vaccination of children and young people between 12 and 15 years of age is now recommended, without the need for medical advice, thus it is no longer limited to specific situations such as children with high risk diseases.

This new recommendation arises from “the analysis of vaccination data for these age groups in the USA and the European Union, it has a universal character” and does not require a medical indication.

Asked when the vaccination of this age group will start, Graça Freitas clarified that “all vaccination processes start with a recommendation technique” and then “the logistical part” defines the “modes in which the vaccination will take place”.
Although it is not yet guaranteed that these age groups will be vaccinated before the start of the school year, the general director assured that it will be “in the day when school starts.
