A 74-year-old man died at Armação de Pêra beach at the weekend, “after allegedly feeling ill and becoming lifeless in the water” said lifeguards, who carried out the rescue and immediately started resuscitation until the arrival of INEM.
Despite the efforts of the teams “it was not possible to reverse the situation” and death was declared on the spot by the INEM doctor.
The victim's body was then taken by the Silves Volunteer Fire Department to the Portimão morgue.
The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.
