Portugal's national train service, Comboios de Portugal (CP), is warning of the possibility of "major disturbance" to trains this Friday, due to the strike called for by "several union organisations". The protest will run throughout the day and may also cause slight disturbance to services on 7th and 9th October.
The company states that “the Arbitration Court of the Economic and Social Council has decreed a minimum service of approximately 25% of the usual trains”.
For those who have already purchased tickets for the Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Interregional or regional services, CP guarantees that "the refund of the total amount of the ticket purchased, or its revalidation, free of charge, will be allowed".
Workers are striking to demand salary increases and the hiring of new professionals. They claim that negotiations with the Government have been inconclusive and complain of a lack of response.
