New ‘Surf Bus’ to serve the Algarve's west coast

4828The Algarve’s first 'Surf Bus' has been launched in Lagos and will be carrying surfers and tourists to the best beaches on the Algarve’s west coast.

The bus organisers aim to help promote surfing, and also surfing as part of family holidays.

The 'Algarve Surf Bus' starts service today between Portimão and Praia do Amado - considered the top spot on the Algarve’s surfing scene. Customers without the essential kit can hire it as part of the package.

The daily bus departs at 8.40 a.m. from Portimão and picks up wannabe dudes from Praia da Rocha, Alvor, Lagos, Praia da Luz and Espiche. There is another route available taking in Sagres, Cape St Vincent and Baleeira.

The bus has been adapted to carry surfers' boards and has free WiFi.

This project is a partnership between Transol, the Amado Surf School and We Do Tourism, all businesses involved in promoting surf tourism in the Algarve.

"Surfing is increasingly becoming family orientated and is a good way for tourists to discover the cities, villages, culture and cuisine of countries," said a spokesman for the organisers.
