The Albufeira GNR arrested three young men earlier this week for assaulting and threatening people on public roads, to steal their mobile phones.
The three men between the ages of 20 and 22, who beat their victims and threatened them with a knife, were arrested for the crime of robbery.
While patrolling the nightlife establishments in Albufeira, the GNR were informed that “a group of individuals was approaching young people on the public road with the aim of stealing cell phones, attacking their victims and threatening them with a knife”, explained the GNR in a statement, adding that “given the characteristics of the suspects, police steps were immediately taken to locate them”.
Following the investigations, the authorities located and intercepted the suspects, who were in possession of a knife and several mobile phones, and arrested them.
After presenting at court this Wednesday the criminals were subject to the coercive measure of three-weekly presentations at the police station in their area of residence.
