Autumn in Portugal officially begins today, September 23rd, with forecasts of somewhat cloudy skies and temperatures oscillating between 21 and 31 degrees Celsius, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
The autumnal equinox started at 02:04 today (Lisbon time), according to the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory.
The IPMA forecasts for this first day of autumn are for periods of generally cloudy skies, intensified winds from the afternoon on the west coast and in the highlands.
The minimum temperatures on the mainland will fluctuate between 12 degrees Celsius in Guarda and Bragança and 18 degrees in Faro, the maximum temperatures between 21 in Porto and 31 degrees in Évora.
Autumn will end on December 21st, with Winter beginning at 21:48.
