Algarve Hoteliers donate a motorbike to Albufeira GNR

albufeira2The Association of Hotels and Resorts in the Algarve (AHETA,) in collaboration with a group of local businessmen, has donated a motorbike to Albufeira’s GNR to help it do its job better.

The ceremony took place at the association's headquarters in Albufeira and was attended by the district commander of the GNR, Colonel Silva Gomes, and the commander of the Destacamento Territorial de Albufeira, Major Marco Henriques.

The initiative falls within the framework of the policing programme for the zone covered by Albufeira’s GNR and seeks to improve efficiency levels of this police force, particularly in terms of its ability to intervene.

The hoteliers’ association is aware that security has assumed increasingly importance with tourists when choosing a holiday destination and regularly collaborates with the various regional police forces, in particular with the GNR, to improve safety for tourists.

The association members say they are committed to developing programmes that can help promote the Algarve as a safe tourist destination, including active participation in providing technical and logistical resources to the various security forces to help them efficiently perform their jobs.
