Missing paraglider is identified but still not foundThis morning, rescue teams resumed the 3rd day of a search for a paraglider missing since Sunday afternoon, in the coastal area near Sagres.

Crew members from the Sagres Lifeguard Station are involved in the operations at sea, and on land members of the Military Police and the Vila do Bispo firefighters are searching, supported by a drone.

Captain of the Port of Lagos and local commander of the Maritime Police (PM), Hugo da Guia, released a statement yesterday to say the paraglider has now been identified through the registration details of a car found parked in the area on Sunday afternoon, and the registration details of the paraglider - both belong to the same person, “a 29 year old man of French nationality.” 

“The Psychology office” of the Maritime Police are “in contact with the family”.

The searches, which are taking place south of Praia das Furnas, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo began late Sunday afternoon, following an alert given by a member of the public who was in the area and who told the authorities that he had seen paragliding equipment floating in the water.
