According to the Portuguese weather service, temperatures will continue to rise over the long weekend, peaking on Sunday and starting to fall on Monday.
The forecast is for sun and more sun with temperatures increasing due to the balmy easterly wind.
The sun will shine across the mainland with humidity at a low 20 to 30%.
Temperatures will rise to well above 30 degrees in much of the country over the weekend with the interior hitting 35 degrees or more.
No rain is forecast but on Monday the wind will change to a westerly bringing cooler air.
