A security guard has been killed and a customer wounded in a fight at the Second Bar in Avenida Sá Carneiro, Oura, Albufeira.
The incident occurred ay 02.55 am on Wednesday morning and the Judicial Police have mounted a full investigation.
The dead man was a security guard at the popular Second Bar, who later died in hospital of his wounds. He had been an employee for three years.
The Cape Verdean attacker was taken to hospital with severe facial injuries.
The third man, a bartender, was injured and later relased form hospital.
The security guard was attacked as he intervened in an argument between a group of young Portuguese-speaking men and the barman.
The incident occurred in Oura, one of the main nightlife centres of Albufeira. The Judicial Police are investigating what happened.
his event took place just two days after a man was arrested by police inside an Albufeira nightclub for carrying a loaded 9mm handgun for which he had no license.
According to information obtained from the GNR, the Oura bar fight was interrupted by GNR officers who were on night patrol to help deal with any such incidents but they were not able to prevent the fatal stabbing.
Help was provided by staff from two ambulances, the Bombeiros, and an INEM medical team.
Judicial Police offficers are investigating the case.
